Cultivating the Arts and Gardens

The Cultivating the Arts and Gardens Program at Barclay Friends provides activities which encourage the expression of creativity, spirituality, personal opinion, knowledge and personal growth.  The staff members from the Recreation Department have combined their talents and expertise to develop a full range of programs for the residents to participate in weekly, monthly and seasonally.

The Barclay Friends’ Recreation Program fosters continuous learning in each resident and a commitment by staff to enhance the life of each resident by providing a culture of the arts and gardens to include:

• musical entertainment and resident participation in a bell choir;
• dance programs presented by visiting professionals;
• opportunities to attend local theater productions;

The arts and gardens program seeks to involve everyone who lives or stays at Barclay Friends. Programs are adapted to the varying physical and cognitive abilities of each resident resulting in the stimulation of motivation. Barclay Friends believes the resident’s lives are more meaningful when they are provided with opportunities to use their capabilities to the maximum potential. The Cultivating the Arts and Gardens Program at Barclay Friends not only provides opportunities to each resident for enjoyment and personal involvement, but also provides opportunities for social interaction both within and outside of Barclay Friends.
